"When I see an ill child, it somehow turns out that
all problems of the whole world, of the whole mankind are
concentrated in this little boy or girl".

Father George Chistyakov

The Help and Charity Service at the Russian Children's Clinical Hospital (Moscow) was created in 1989 by Father Alexander Men, a well-known Orthodox priest. It is one of the first charitable organizations in recent Russian history.

From 1993 till his death in 2007, the spiritual leader of our group was Father George Chistyakov, an outstanding priest, scientist and theologist. Our hospital church of Intercession of Holy Virgin Mary was opened at the hospital in 1994.

We help all who need such help, irrespective of their nationality or religious beliefs.

Over 50 expensive state-of-the-art treatment technologies are presently being implemented or used at the Russian Children's Clinical Hospital. The state budget provides only part of the money required for their functioning. We are struggling to make such treatment, irrespective of its cost, available for any patient.

In 1997, we registered the Regional Public Charity Foundation for Seriously ill and Abandoned Children.

Since December 1998, we have been performing fundraising for the benefit of the hospital patients through the Web site www.deti.msk.ru, which was the first charitable Internet project in Russia.

Our Foundation finances the purchases of some medications and equipment, participates in financing the development of novel medical technologies. Thousands of children have received help over the years of our work at this hospital.

We are especially concerned about the destinies of orphan patients. Hundreds of children from various Russian orphanages have received due treatment at the hospital; some of them have already been adopted.

Our volunteers, including musicians, art therapists, clowns, photographers, cartoonists, and just kind and attentive friends regularly support the little patients and their parents.

We are glad to see new friends joining our common cause.
