Help in providing high-tech treatment |
|---|
One of the primary aims of our Foundation is to help in organization of state-of-the-art treatment at the Russian Children's Clinical Hospital.
During the years of our work at the hospital, the situation with budgetary supply of medications and consumables has become much better. Presently the main drugs required for therapy of grave oncological, hematological, and immunological disorders, including expensive medications, are provided to patients free of charge, at the expense of the state budget.
Nevertheless, additional financing is still necessary in the following cases:
- If the budgetary supplies of some or other medications are temporarily interrupted for some reason but it is vitally important that their use in the treatment be continuous.
- If standard therapy is inefficient and rare drugs, whose purchase is not financed by the budget, are required to save a patient.
Some aspects of treatment at our hospital fully depend on charitable donations:
- Purchase of state-of-the-art consumables and instruments for maxillofacial and reconstructive surgery.
- Purchase and use of contemporary endoprostheses, prosthetic or orthetic appliances.
Our Foundation regularly helps the hospital in buying modern diagnostic equipment.
A separate direction of our work consists in fundraising for medical services that cannot be provided to our patients at the Russian Children's Clinical Hospital and require admission to other clinics, sometimes even clinics in other countries (Germany, Italy, Israel, etc).

The priorities of our foundation have somewhat changed recently. Formerly, the accent was on purchase of medications, but the budgetary supply of medications to the hospital in 2007 was much better than before. So, we reoriented our efforts to purchase of expensive equipment, consumables and instruments for the hospital departments (surgical units, Department of Endoscopic Surgery, Departments of Oncohematology and Marrow Transplantation, Departments of Microvascular, Abdominal and Maxillofacial Surgery). A total of 7,600,000 roubles (over $300,000) was spent for these purposes.
The total sum spent by our Foundation on purchase of medications, equipment, consumables and on paying for medical examinations and other services in the first quarter of 2008 was 4,924,808.74 roubles (about $200,000).
The money raised for purchase of medications, rehabilitation appliances and treatment in foreign clinics over this period amounted to 698,122.33 roubles (about $28,000) plus $25,000 and 63,000 euro.
